Hach FL900 Flow Logger with AV9000 Analyser Module

McCrometer Hach Flow Solutions FL900 Flow Logger with AV9000 Analyser Module for Submerged Area Velocity Monitoring

Able Instruments are McCrometer’s Exclusive UK & Ireland Representative for the Hach FL900 Flow Logger with AV9000 Analyser Module, part of the Hach Flow Solutions portfolio by McCrometer. This combined logging and analysis solution is designed for submerged area velocity monitoring in open channel applications.

The FL900 Series Flow Logger provides portable, DC-powered data logging with plug-and-play sensor ports that automatically detect connected sensors. Designed for rapid deployment, the logger includes an LED status indicator to confirm correct programming and sensor operation before leaving site. Local communication is supported via USB and RS232, with Modbus RTU available for configuration and data retrieval.

Key Features:

  • Integrated logger and analyser: Combines the FL900 Flow Logger with the AV9000 Area Velocity Analyser Module to support submerged area velocity monitoring.
  • Plug-and-play sensor connectivity: Sensor ports auto-detect connected sensors to simplify configuration and improve deployment flexibility.
  • On-site operational confirmation: LED status indication helps confirm correct setup and sensor operation before leaving site.
  • Local communications and protocols: Supports USB and RS232 communications with local Modbus RTU for configuration and data access.
  • Advanced Doppler signal processing: Multi-scale digital spectral Doppler analysis with Mirror Image Processing and Target Set Processing to support stable velocity measurement.
  • Temperature-compensated measurement: Temperature compensation is built in to reduce potential velocity error caused by seasonal temperature variation.
  • Diagnostics for data confidence: On-demand Doppler spectrum viewing, real-time diagnostic feedback and measurement flags, with the option to log diagnostic parameters alongside flow data.
  • Field-ready construction: Rugged enclosures rated for harsh environments, including NEMA 6P / IP-rated protection on the logger and analyser module.

When paired with the FL900, the AV9000 Area Velocity Analyser Module enables the use of a submerged area velocity sensor and adds advanced Doppler signal processing capability. Multi-scale digital spectral analysis, temperature compensation, and integrated diagnostic tools are used to support stable velocity measurement in conditions where flow profiles, solids, or site hydraulics may otherwise affect data quality.

The AV9000 provides on-demand diagnostic feedback, including Doppler spectrum viewing and logged quality parameters, allowing users to verify sensor performance and measurement integrity while on site. This reduces the likelihood of repeat visits and supports greater confidence in recorded data, particularly at challenging monitoring locations.

The FL900 platform is referenced for use across wastewater, collection systems, and industrial water monitoring applications where reliable submerged area velocity data is required. Together, the FL900 logger and AV9000 analyser module provide a structured approach to flow data collection, verification, and review without introducing unnecessary system complexity.
