Dwyer Series 16G/8G/4G Dual-Loop Temperature and Process Controllers

Choose 1/16, 1/8 or 1/4 DIN temperature and process control with universal input, dual-output operation and standard RS-485.

Key highlights

  • Sizes: 1/16, 1/8 or 1/4 DIN
  • Inputs: Thermocouple, RTD, voltage or current
  • Control: On/off, PID, fuzzy logic or manual
  • Outputs: Two control outputs plus two alarm relays
  • Functions: Ramp/soak and standard RS-485 Modbus

The Dwyer Series 16G/8G/4G family combines one temperature and process-control platform with three panel formats. Select the compact 1/16 DIN 16G, vertical 1/8 DIN 8G or larger 1/4 DIN 4G to suit the available panel space and preferred operator-panel layout.

A single universal process input accepts supported thermocouples, resistance sensors and analogue signals. The two primary output groups can operate around the same measured value and setpoint for heating, cooling or paired heat/cool duties; the dual-loop name does not indicate two independent measurement inputs.

On/off, PID, fuzzy-logic and manual output control cover a range of regulation duties. Auto-tune and Self-tune support PID setup, while fixed, sloped and ramp/soak setpoint modes provide different ways to manage the process profile.

Output and auxiliary hardware are selected in the product code. Each primary output can be specified as relay, 12 VDC voltage pulse, 4-20 mA current or 0-10 V linear voltage. Optional hardware can add remote setpoint, event input, process-input retransmission output or current-transformer input functions, and RS-485 Modbus ASCII/RTU is standard.

The family suits ovens, packaging equipment, parts washers and compatible OEM or industrial process-control duties. Selection should account for panel format, input curve or signal, output hardware and load, control assignment, optional functions, supply and communications requirements.

Key Features

  • Three panel formats: Choose Series 16G, 8G or 4G for 1/16, 1/8 or 1/4 DIN installation
  • Universal process input: Configure one input for a supported thermocouple, resistance sensor or analogue signal
  • Dual-output operation: Assign two primary output groups for heating, cooling or paired heat/cool control around one process value
  • Control choices: Select on/off, PID, fuzzy-logic or manual output control to suit the application
  • PID tuning: Use Auto-tune or Self-tune functions to support PID parameter setup
  • Setpoint control: Apply fixed, slope or ramp/soak programmes, with remote setpoint available through optional hardware
  • Model-selected hardware: Match both primary outputs and the auxiliary functions to the application before ordering
  • Standard communications: Integrate through RS-485 using Modbus ASCII or RTU
