AMETEK Brookfield Computrac Vapor Pro XL Moisture-Specific Analyser

Reagent-free, low-level water measurement for laboratory, quality control and production applications.

Key highlights

  • Moisture-specific: Measures evolved water rather than total sample mass loss
  • 10 ppm to 100%: Covers low-level and high-percentage moisture analysis, subject to sample size
  • Reagent-free: Supports correlation with Karl Fischer methods without KF reagents or fragile glassware
  • 25°C to 300°C: Controlled testing in 1°C temperature increments
  • 2R to 30R vials: Accommodates a range of crimp-top sample vial sizes

The AMETEK Brookfield Computrac Vapor Pro XL is a programmable analyser designed for direct water measurement in industrial and laboratory samples. The sample is heated within a vial, while dry air or nitrogen carries the released vapour to a relative humidity sensor for measurement.

This moisture-specific approach helps distinguish water from other volatile components that may also be released during heating. This is important where conventional loss-on-drying methods could include non-water volatiles within the reported result.

For suitable samples and established methods, the Vapor Pro XL provides a reagent-free alternative to Karl Fischer titration. It can support correlation with existing KF results without requiring the routine handling of Karl Fischer reagents or fragile glassware.

The analyser is used for low-level moisture testing in plastics and polymers, pharmaceutical materials and excipients, chemicals, coatings, lubricants, petroleum products and battery materials. It is also applicable to moisture-sensitive additive-manufacturing materials and 3D-printing filament.

Programmable test conditions support repeatable method control across research, quality control and production-floor applications. This enables users to verify incoming materials, confirm drying processes and monitor stored materials where moisture content can affect processing, consistency or subsequent product performance.

Key Features

  • Moisture-specific sensing: The heated-vial and carrier-gas system transports released vapour to an RH sensor, helping distinguish water from other volatile components that can influence loss-on-drying results.
  • Karl Fischer method correlation: Supports method development and correlation against established KF results for suitable samples, without routine reagent handling or fragile titration glassware.
  • Programmable method control: Store up to 250 test programmes with defined sample, temperature and endpoint parameters for consistent routine analysis.
  • Advanced temperature profiling: Apply programmed temperature stages and adjustable test conditions when developing methods for complex or multi-phase materials.
  • Flexible test endpoints: Select Prediction, Rate, Time or Time then Rate to balance analysis time and method requirements.
  • Results and statistical review: Retain up to 1,000 results and 100 graphs, with mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation calculations.
  • Calibration and diagnostics: Use NIST-traceable capillary tubes, menu-driven calibration procedures and built-in monitoring of the sensor, flow system, hardware and software.
  • Traceable data management: Audit logging, user access controls and USB or Ethernet connectivity support controlled workflows, with optional 21 CFR Part 11 configuration and Computrac Connect Web Server.
