Founded in 1998, ICG set out to create high-quality flavour and colour solutions that bring products to life. Based in Blackburn, Lancashire, the company has developed into a trusted UK flavour and colour house, supporting a diverse range of food and beverage manufacturers through a combination of creativity, technical expertise, product quality and attentive customer service.

ICG works closely with manufacturers across the food, beverage, confectionery, dairy, sports nutrition, pet food and fishing bait industries to develop bespoke solutions that perform reliably at scale. Its portfolio includes natural and synthetic flavours in liquid and powder formats, alongside tailored colour systems, all created with precision, creativity and the specific demands of each application in mind.

Over the years, ICG has built a strong reputation for dedication, craftsmanship and an in-depth understanding of flavour. Combining natural ingredients with advanced flavour science, they create distinctive sweet, savoury and beverage solutions that respond to changing consumer tastes. Their expertise lies in the art of blending ingredients to achieve precisely balanced flavours, supported by fast response times, bespoke development and a personal approach that helps manufacturers across a wide range of industries bring successful products to market.

ICG Flavours wanted to introduce mobile enterprise technology into its production process, giving operators secure, immediate access to complex flavour recipes directly on the factory floor. The company approached Able Instruments & Controls to identify a robust mobile computing solution capable of operating safely and reliably within its demanding production environment.

Able supplied BARTEC touchscreen computers certified for ATEX, IECEx and UKEX Zone 2/22 environments, as well as NEC Class I, II and III, Division 2 locations. This level of hazardous-area protection was particularly important due to the prevalence of combustible dust within flavour production. The mobile devices enable operators to carry detailed formulations into production digitally, improving accessibility, reducing reliance on paper documentation and supporting a more efficient, connected manufacturing process.
