Pressure Switches

A pressure switch is a device that turns an electrical circuit on or off when a certain pressure level is reached. They can be mechanical or electronic, and are used in a variety of applications, including well pumps, gas compressors, and security alarms.

Pressure switches can have different designs, depending on the application and pressure level:

  • Diaphragm: Used for low-pressure and vacuum applications. Diaphragm materials can be made from materials like Buna-N, Viton, Teflon, stainless steel, or Monel.
  • Panel-mountable dial case made of glass-reinforced thermoplastic
  • Piston: Used for high-pressure applications.
  • Electronic: More expensive than mechanical switches but offer more control over pressure setpoint and hysteresis.

Able are pleased to offer a range of pressure switches and differential pressure switches from leading manufacturers including United Electric and Schischek.
