Our broader range includes standard clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters from Micronics, including portable and fixed-installation options suitable for clean or dirty liquids. These provide a cost-effective, low-maintenance alternative to inline metering, with quick installation and no disruption to process conditions.
New Clamp-On Flow & Water Cut Solutions from XSENS
Able also supplies ultrasonic flow metering systems from XSENS, designed for operators who need liquid flow rate and water cut data without process interruption. Using a patented multi-path acoustic approach, XSENS meters build a full flow profile through the pipe wall, eliminating the need for pipe cutting, spool pieces, or shutdowns. The range includes the XACT Clamp-On Water Cut Meter for continuous 0–100% water-in-oil monitoring, and the XACT Clamp-On Liquid Flow Rate & Water Cut Meter for simultaneous flow rate, water cut, and calculated net oil and water outputs. These systems install in hours, require no straight-run lengths, and are suited to offshore platforms, production facilities, refineries, pipelines, and retrofit applications where intrusive metering is impractical.
For non-intrusive gas flow applications, we offer Siemens clamp-on systems including the SITRANS FS230 (Gas) and FS‑DSL11. These provide accurate, zero-pressure-loss metering of natural gas and process gases in remote or hazardous installations. While less common than liquid clamp-on systems, these gas-compatible devices offer a practical solution for retrofit or specialist use cases where inline metering is not viable.
From industrial liquids to process gases, Able can advise on the most suitable clamp-on flow metering solution for your application.
Micronics ultrasonic flow meters are widely used in Energy Management and retrofit Building Services markets worldwide, to help reduce energy consumption and monitor water use. Micronics’ extensive range of products include Ultrasonic Clamp-On Flow Meters, Portable & Fixed Liquid Flow Measurement Meters, Energy Meters for heating and cooling applications and in-line MID approved ultrasonic energy and water flow meters for direct billing applications. Flow sensors detect and then measure flow rates from the outside of the pipework, without any interruption to flow or process. In addition, for Process or Water industry applications, Micronics provide Clamp-On, full pipe or ‘Doppler’ open channel flow meters for contaminated or dirty liquid flows.
Measurement Principle: Micronics meters use a cross-correlation transit time algorithm to provide accurate flow measurements. An ultrasonic beam of a given frequency is generated and applied to the transducer crystals. This transmission goes first from the downstream transducer to the upstream transducer as shown in the upper half of Figure 1 (below). The transmission is then made in the reverse direction, being sent from the upstream transducer to the downstream transducer as shown in the lower half of Figure 1. The speed at which the ultrasound is transmitted through the liquid is increased slightly by the velocity of the liquid through the pipe. The subsequent time difference T1-T2 is directly proportional to the liquid flow velocity.
