Dwyer Series 16A Temperature and Process Controller

Control temperature or analogue process variables with a compact 1/16 DIN controller, universal input and self-tuning PID.

Key highlights

  • Platform: 1/16 DIN 16A2 or 16A3
  • Inputs: Thermocouple, RTD, voltage or current
  • Control: On/off, P, PI or PID with Self-Tune
  • Outputs: Relay, SSR, 15 VDC pulse or current by model
  • Front panel: NEMA 4X/IP66 rated

The Dwyer Series 16A is a compact 1/16 DIN temperature and process controller for enclosed-panel installations. Its universal input can be configured for supported thermocouples, RTDs, DC voltage or DC current signals, allowing one platform to regulate temperature or a compatible transmitter signal.

Control can be configured for on/off, proportional, PI or PID operation. Self-Tune PID and Fuzzy Logic functions help establish and refine control response, while dual four-digit LED displays show the process value and setpoint.

16A2 and 16A3 identify the controller feature set. The 16A2 provides the standard functions; the 16A3 adds 16-segment ramp/soak programming and auto/manual output operation. Alarm provision and the output A/output B hardware are defined by the selected model.

Optional configurations include process-value or setpoint retransmission, RS-232 or RS-485 communications using LoveLink or Modbus RTU, and a low-voltage supply. These are ordering options rather than standard functions and must be matched to the required interface and controller model.

The Series 16A suits ovens, process heating, plastics equipment, food and beverage machinery, wastewater applications and heat tracing. Correct selection depends on input type and range, control function, output type and load, alarm requirement, supply, communications and panel installation.

Key Features

  • Universal input: Configure the controller for a supported thermocouple, RTD or analogue process signal
  • Flexible control: Select on/off, proportional, PI or PID operation with direct or reverse action
  • Self-Tune and Fuzzy Logic: Built-in functions support PID setup and response adjustment
  • Two feature levels: Choose 16A2 for standard control or 16A3 for ramp/soak and auto/manual operation
  • Model-selected outputs: Match relay, SSR, 15 VDC pulse, proportional current or DC SSR hardware to the load
  • Optional integration: Specify retransmission or RS-232/RS-485 communications where required
  • Operator visibility: Dual four-digit LED displays show process value and setpoint
  • Protected front: NEMA 4X/IP66 front-panel rating supports correctly mounted industrial panels
