The Pepperl+Fuchs Ident-Ex 02 is an intrinsically safe wireless barcode scanner designed for 1D and 2D data capture in hazardous and industrial environments. DZ1 and DZ2 versions address Zone 1/21 and Zone 2/22 applications, providing a dedicated scanning platform for ATEX and IECEx hazardous-area workflows.

It is designed for mobile data capture across industries including oil and gas, chemicals, maintenance, warehousing and logistics, pharmaceutical and life sciences. The scanner enables barcode-based identification and data collection where standard commercial scanning equipment is unsuitable for the working environment.

A modular four-configuration platform allows the scanner to be adapted to different operator workflows. Pocket provides a compact standalone format, Grip adds an ergonomic trigger handle, Smart Grip combines the scanner with a compatible Smart-Ex device, and Grip+ provides an HMI-focused configuration for use with VisuNet GXP and FLX systems. Grip and Grip+ can also be converted to Smart Grip using the appropriate cradle.

For connected workflows, Ident-Ex 02 can pair via Bluetooth with compatible smartphones, tablets and PCs. Pocket and Grip can also operate independently of a host device, allowing barcode data to be captured offline and transferred later when required.

The platform is intended for long-term industrial deployment, with fully replaceable parts and an eight-year manufacturer-guaranteed product lifecycle. This supports organisations looking to standardise hazardous-area scanning equipment across different applications while retaining flexibility as operational requirements change.
